British Beer Pain

While here in Philly we've enjoyed the opening of several new beer spots and look forward to good beer news in the coming months, the same isn't true over in Great Britain. The combination of economic woes and a nasty beer tax are taking its toll on British beer sales. The UK Quarterly Beer Barometer put out by the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) reported that beer sales in the final quarter of 2008 were down 8.3% from the same period in 2007. The BBPA states that this has caused the closing of 6 pubs a day.
