So, you have fired up the grill and managed to create a true ground meat masterpiece. Fresh lettuce, tomato, specialty cheese, crisp peppered bacon and the perfect roll all merge for the quintessential burger experience. Now what beer are you going to pair with it? Imbibe magazine has a suggestion. Victory Brewing's Prima Pils has made their list of 100 Best Bottled Beers in the World in the Sept/Oct 09 issue. They recommend the crisp, hoppy, dry pilsner to cut through all the big, bold, burger flavor. Sounds like the perfect pairing. The only problem is it's 8:30 am and a burger and Prima Pils aren't on the breakfast menu.
My Bad!!!
After I put this post up I realized I wasn't showing much love for the other hometown brew peeps who made this issue. The Philly area (I'm including DE and the area out to Harrisburg) made a big impression on the liquid culture magazine. Also included in the pages is one serious beer fanatic who I am sure most of us have had the pleasure of bumping into on more than one occasion.
Dogfish Head Punkin Ale (seasonals) and 90 Minute IPA (hop monsters) both made the top 100. Troegs Nugget Nectar also jumped on the list under the seasonals category. If you have picked up a copy of the magazine don't forget to read the article (page 29) on our own PA beer scribe Woody Chandler.
