Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh is Open!!!

Yes it is St. Patrick's Day and I am wearin' the green but I still have thoughts of the opening day of the Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh on my mind. Yesterday, after numerous delays, the new location on the shore of the Monongahela river on the South Side had its soft opening . I spent a majority of the afternoon, on a bar stool in the beer hall, taking in the German festivities, along with some very tasty wurst and a beer or two. My hopes were to share a bit of the experience however a small technical problem is going to delay the posting of pictures and video. I am still in Pittsburgh but hope to have the problem solved in a day or so.

I was there on the Mon. March. 16th from 4- 7:30 and it was wonderful. Prices are about the same as can be expected at a TGI Fridays. The atmosphere is wonderfully authentic. I spent 2 years in Germany while in the Army and visited the original Hofbrau haus. Other than not being 400 and some years old, they captured the feel really well. There are 3 separate dinning experiences. The main beer hall has a large 3 sided bar and the room seats aproximately 400. Very loud and festive. The dinning room in the front section of the building is much quieter and separated by doors from the fest hall. The beer garden is outside along the river and looks to have three levels of large patio. It's not landscaped yet but looks to be peaceful since it is away from the road. They brew their own varieties of beer from light to dark. They do not carry any domestics like Bud, as it should be. Go experience it yourself, it's worth it.
