Futbol and Beer!!! Not Football and Beer: Iron Abbey

Horsham gets a new pub and it's heavy on futbol and great beer. The Iron Abbey, located at 680 North Easton Road, is scheduled for a soft opening on Friday March 27th (invitation) and a grand opening on April 3rd.

Soccer fan rejoice you will have the opportunity to watch the best players in the world and select from over 200 beers with 24 on draft.
We will be showing all live English, Scottish, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish games along with the Champions League/World Cup Qualifiers etc. We are also very excited about the new Philadelphia soccer team and wish them much success!
More futbol info here.

It will be interesting to see what kind of soccer crowd they get. After all the World Champion Phillies are getting ready to start their season, the Flyers are headed to the playoffs and the cries of E-A -G-L-E-S...Eagles aren't that far off. Something tells me that soccer may end up taking the back seat in its own bar.

Hopefully all the loser baseball fans will stay away and leave this pub and it's semi-decent beer selection for the futbol fans.

Hey I am not a big baseball fan and I am far less a soccer fan fan but it sounds like the place will be great to watch any game. It's cool to see soccer fans get a bar dedicated to their sport. Not knowing much about the popularity of soccer in the Philly area Im just wondering what type of crowds they will get out in Horsham.

i think it will be hit or miss depending on the game. alot of the English Premier and Champions League games are on in the early afternoon (1-3PMish) so there may be some people that leave work early or go there for lunch, but don't think it will be overrun by futbol fans. Plus there is the Union Jacks in Glenside that has great beer selection and cater toward futbol fans so that takes a small amount of people away too.

I do think that next year for the World Cup there will be a spike. Bars known to promote futbol in this area (Union Jacks, Dark Horse Pub in the city) get packed during the WC.

Hey thanks for the info. I am going to make sure to get up to the Abbey for a big game. Like I said I am not a futbol fan but I can certainly appreciate a good game and a pint or two.

Went there last night. Did have soccer on around and a fair number of fans getting into the game, which kinda sucks you in even if you don't like soccer. At 5:30ish they promptly turned all the TVs to baseball... so not sure how much of a "soccer bar" it really is.

Beer selection was decent. 24 taps: St Bernardus, Fullers ESB, Dogfish 90 Minute IPA, Saison Dupont... And lots of bottles. There is a little bit of everything but they lean more toward imports.

Food was a little expensive with some things being average (fish n chips) and some being decent (a meat sampler, wings).

Atmosphere was a bit too "clean" and upscale for my tastes.

Overall will probably visit it from time to time, especially if they end up changing up and featuring good brews, but wasn't blown away and prefer going to Union Jack's Glenside when I'm in that area.
