This is the 3rd Annual Smoke 'Em If Yous Got 'Em at Yard's Brewing Company.  I've had the chance to attend the last two and if you are a smoke beer fan with a fondness for BBQ then don't miss this. Unfortunately do to prior engagements (hanging with Ava) my attendance streak will come to an end. However, that should be good news to everyone in attendence. Since I ate a criminal amount of BBQ last year I gaurentee there will be more food available this time around. Cheers!

Philly Beer Week Takes Off

Philly Beer Week is off and running. I am trying not to go too crazy about getting to places and have somewhat come to grips with the fact that I can't go to every event I want.  I'm not a iphone person so I've been tracking the grand festivities through the site and the old school way on paper.  At this point everything has been circled, asterisked and highlighted to death.  So far the plan is to hit favorites, see old friends and check out the new guys, both bars and breweries. 

My week kicked off at Capone's with Old Dominion.  Thanks Scott and Dave for the beer selection you guys were great.  On Sunday it was off to Smoke 'Em if Yous Got 'Em.   Loved it last year and this year's gathering didn't disappoint. It was also my first visit to Yards since the arrival of the new bar and I understand why the place is so damn popular.  It's the best place on Del Ave to grab a pint. Yards just doesn't stop improving.  On the new side, the Philly debut of Deschutes at City Tap House. The beer and the bar were equally amazing.  60 taps is impressive. With The Abyss and Hop Henge on, it's draft paradise.  If you haven't had any of their beers just trust me, you want Deschutes to keep pouring in Philly.  My only regret so far is missing Lew and Scoats at the Grey Lodge for Upstate Brewery Haul. In past years I've missed it and I knew after Smoke 'Em and Deschutes there was no way I was getting to the Grey Lodge.  Ya gotta know when to say when.

Happy Earth Day

It's Earth Day and even I have managed to do a little something in support of a better planet. I already do the obvious, putting out the recycling, as we all should.  Normally I'll also plant shrubs, flowers, get the veggie garden ready then head to an earth friendly brewery such as Yards for a pint or two and call it a day.  This year I've stepped up my game and decided to start composting.  We have a small composter at the back of our property and it is ready for use. No more egg shells, orange rinds and coffee grounds in the garbage.  It all goes back to the soil. The cool thing is my garden will benefit and I save cash.  Cash that will now go towards a beer at an earth friendly bar. Cheers to the blue dot*!

In honor of Earth Day, Yards Brewing Company - Pennsylvania's Greenest Brewery - is inviting you to bring your empty cases or six-packs to Yards, fill them up with your favorites and go home a few bucks richer. That's right, you can come to Yards, reuse your cases and six-packs and we can all be greener together. Six-packs save you $1. Cases save you $3. We'd prefer that both are Yards, but really any brand will do. So stop by, say hi and we'll say thanks for helping to reduce waste.

Limit four six-packs per customer and two cases per customer.

You can combine the two, but you can't exceed $10 in discounted value.
